Nanometer-Scale Patterning on PMMA Resist by Force Microscopy Lithography
Nanoscale science and technology has today mainly focused on the fabrication of nano devices. In this paper, we study the use of lithography process to build the desired nanostructures directly. Nanolithography on polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) surface is carried out by using Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) equipped with silicon tip, in contact mode. The analysis of the results shows that the ...
متن کاملDip-pen nanolithography: controlling surface architecture on the sub-100 nanometer length scale.
A new method for patterning surfaces with organic structures, termed "dip-pen" nanolithography (DPN), has been developed. DPN allows one to deliver collections of molecules to a surface in a positive printing mode. The technique offers 15 nm linewidths and 5 nm spatial resolution. Current capabilities and future applications of DPN are discussed.
متن کاملSpin wave dispersion on the nanometer scale.
Hot electrons injected into antiferromagnetic Mn layers from the tip of a low temperature scanning tunneling microscope have been used to determine the energies, lifetimes, and momenta of antiferromagnetic spin waves on the nanometer scale. The spin waves show a linear dispersion with a velocity of 160+/-10 meV A and lifetimes that scale linearly with energy in agreement with neutron scattering...
متن کاملFriction Identification and Compensation on Nanometer Scale
This work concerns the modelling and experimental verification of the highly nonlinear friction behavior in positioning on the nanometer scale. The main goal of this work is to adjust and identify a simple dynamic friction model which allows a model-based estimation of the friction force in combination with the system inertia against displacement. Experiments in the pre-sliding and sliding fric...
متن کاملOn the Role of Nanometer Scale Structure on Interfacial Energy
Natural surfaces are often structured with nanometre-scale domains, yet a framework providing a quantitative understanding of how nanostructure affects interfacial energy, γSL, is lacking. Conventional continuum thermodynamics treats γSL solely as a function of average composition, ignoring structure. Here we show that, when a surface has domains commensurate in size with solvent molecules, γSL...
